Veldt Shots

Some quick shots. Really tough trying to limit the panels to three grays. That's how I would do traditional inking, but in traditional the values change as you go from just using up the ink, to the mixing it does with other values, whether the brush or even surface is wet or dry, type of paper too!

Trying to find a good workflow to really start pumping out more work, but...our profs keep telling us to experiment and getting a "workflow" kinda by definition means settling on one way of doing somethin' so...dunno

Anyway, Christov was able to salvage some very good notes, as always:

Shot Craft

Playing around with lighting in these shots. Tricky stuff lighting, you never really pay much attention to the way something is lit, but you still feel something is off when trying to get it down on paper (or bits). The character designs are still generic here, probably gonna try and cartoon it up. Keyword: try. Shots are still from reading "The Colour Out of Space".

Pirate Story: 3 Headlines

These are basically the beginning, middle, and end of a story I'm working. At first it was going to be a rather depressing italian neo-realist film, something similar to Paisan, maybe even base it off my hometown, but started thinking and for various reasons I'm dressing it up in a high seas, swashbuckling pirate world.

Venture West Bank

Couple of character designs for Venture West Bank (not real), they wanted a new mascot character to connect with the younger generation, something to communicate their tag-line: "Venture West...Making the World Safe for Ordinary Investors." It also had to feel friendly, like something that could really help out if need be.

First thought was birds for w/e reason. Went to an old sketchbook where I remembered sketching a kookaburra who supposedly in Australian lore is supposed to bring light to the people of the earth every morning.
