Lurking Guards
Thinking about the guards that escort the MC. Thought of them as rather dim characters the mc recruited from the local village- which are all this weird incest colony sprouting from the mysterious family that live in the only mansion in town.
Still would like to push these more and really caricature the pixels out of them, hm...

Lurking MC
Main character from the lurking fear. He's a bit of a spoiled rich city kid with a fondness for creepy and scary things maybe due to a lack of any actual real danger in his pampered childhood. He goes looking for trouble when he hears of the "lurking fear" in a certain mansion.
The kind of person he is, he likes to be very well informed about everything- he reads all the lore and talks to the city folk in a sort of voyeuristic way, as if the city folk are his research tools for him to just question and use.
Little does he know what's in store for him- he thinks it's the most abominable thing on this world, a creature of devolution, incest, and just disgusting indulgence, but if he examines a bit, the lurking fear, the thing he stares at with repulsion, has been inside him the entire time.

The Lurking Fear
Taking Christov's class again this time around I chose another Lovecraft story- The Lurking Fear. Really nice little short and really am having fun doing this if only to hear the notes I get back from Christov- so much goodness!
Anyway, really simple shots here, going to change some things around to give things a little more of a designed flavor and then light it up! woot! fun class!

Veldt Characters
Couple of design ideas for Bradbury's The Veldt. Thinking of taking the whole thing to a deco style so doing research on that. Growing up in Miami (especially on the rare trips to Miami Beach) that style was always on my mind but I've never really paid attention to it much. It's kind of crazy what a sweet style it is though, a little futurist, a little egyptian; cool mesh.
The Veldt is a beautiful place.

Veldt Shots
Some quick shots. Really tough trying to limit the panels to three grays. That's how I would do traditional inking, but in traditional the values change as you go from just using up the ink, to the mixing it does with other values, whether the brush or even surface is wet or dry, type of paper too!
Trying to find a good workflow to really start pumping out more work, but...our profs keep telling us to experiment and getting a "workflow" kinda by definition means settling on one way of doing somethin' so...dunno
Anyway, Christov was able to salvage some very good notes, as always:

The Veldt
Ray Bradbury! Christov had us change up the story so I went with The Veldt. Fun little story with pretty fun details for sweet designs. To start off, just did some "story vomit" along the margins of the story and some studies of lions/tigers because it was driving me crazy not being able to draw them competently in the thumbnails, still need some work:

Farmer Father
Same dude as before but mapped out how he would look through his three different emotional states. Also, tried making a kinda realistic-y type version of the head and then tried to cartoon it up.

Shot Craft
Playing around with lighting in these shots. Tricky stuff lighting, you never really pay much attention to the way something is lit, but you still feel something is off when trying to get it down on paper (or bits). The character designs are still generic here, probably gonna try and cartoon it up. Keyword: try. Shots are still from reading "The Colour Out of Space".

Colourful Characters
More designs for Lovecraft's story. Did some explorations of all the characters first, then chose to go with the farmer; Nahum.

The Colour Out of Space
Reworking some shots, messing around with simple value here and trying digital hatching. Will post the really small thumbnails soon since this is all just dev work.
