Veldt Characters
Couple of design ideas for Bradbury's The Veldt. Thinking of taking the whole thing to a deco style so doing research on that. Growing up in Miami (especially on the rare trips to Miami Beach) that style was always on my mind but I've never really paid attention to it much. It's kind of crazy what a sweet style it is though, a little futurist, a little egyptian; cool mesh.
The Veldt is a beautiful place.

Veldt Shots
Some quick shots. Really tough trying to limit the panels to three grays. That's how I would do traditional inking, but in traditional the values change as you go from just using up the ink, to the mixing it does with other values, whether the brush or even surface is wet or dry, type of paper too!
Trying to find a good workflow to really start pumping out more work, but...our profs keep telling us to experiment and getting a "workflow" kinda by definition means settling on one way of doing somethin' so...dunno
Anyway, Christov was able to salvage some very good notes, as always:

The Veldt
Ray Bradbury! Christov had us change up the story so I went with The Veldt. Fun little story with pretty fun details for sweet designs. To start off, just did some "story vomit" along the margins of the story and some studies of lions/tigers because it was driving me crazy not being able to draw them competently in the thumbnails, still need some work:
